There are many people out there who are confused whether to go for a smartphone with Snapdragon 625 or save some money and buy a smartphone with Snapdragon 435. Differences between Snapdragon 625 and 435
As per the official specifications data sheet provided by Qualcomm, the difference between the two processors is as below:

Uplink Modulation Technique
The uplink modulation technique, which impacts the upload speed of your internet, is up to 64-QAM in Snapdragon 625 and is up to 16-QAM in Snapdragon 435. This results in Peak Upload Speed of 150 Mbps in 625 and 100 Mbps in 435. This difference in upload speeds does not matter in countries like India where telecom operators are hardly providing peak upload speed of around 5 – 10 Mbps (mostly it is lesser than this). This peak upload speed is far less than 100 Mbps supported by Snapdragon 435. So, you can take your decision on the basis of upload speed supported by your telecom operator.
Snapdragon 625 supports USB specifications 3.0 whereas Snapdragon 435 supports USB specifications 2.0. Theoretically, USB 3.0 is ten times faster than USB 2.0 and it depends upon how the manufacturer configured it. This factor may be crucial for someone who uses USB data transfer frequently and not for someone who uses it less frequently.
Snapdragon 625 supports up to 24 MP camera whereas Snapdragon 435 supports up to 21 MP camera. This factor does not matter in today’s scenario because smartphones having Snapdragon 625 or 435 are mid range devices, and do not support cameras beyond 20 MP.
Snapdragon 625 supports up to 4K Ultra HD video capture @ 30FPS whereas Snapdragon 435 supports up to 1080p video capture @30 FPS. There is a huge difference between the two processors as far as the video capture is concerned. 4K Ultra HD video capture would definitely be far better than 1080p video capture. However, you should check if the smartphone with Snapdragon 625 has a camera with the capability of 4K Ultra HD video capture. If this camera capability is missing in the smartphone, then there is no point preferring Snapdragon 625 over 435.
Similar to video capture, Snapdragon 625 supports up to 4K Ultra HD video playback whereas Snapdragon 435 supports up to 1080p video playback. Here again, 4K Ultra HD video playback would be better. However, currently, there is less content available in the 4K format. Additionally, if you play 4k videos then data consumption would be huge. A video with a duration of 15 – 20 minutes would consume approximately 1GB data. It’s just a perspective but having 4k capable display in a device is always a better thing to have.
CPU Clock Speed
Snapdragon 625 has CPU clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz whereas Snapdragon 435 has 1.4 GHz. This difference in speed will not matter if you use your smartphone for day to day usage. However, while running heavy games or other processing intensive applications you will encounter some lag, missing frames with Snapdragon 435. On the other hand, Snapdragon 625 will perform far better than 435.
Snapdragon 625 has been manufactured using latest 14 nm technique whereas Snapdragon 435 with 28 nm. A smaller size indicates that the process to create the chip is newer and the components have been closely packed. Thus, a processor with 14 nm technique would have closely packed components in comparison to a 28 nm processor. This results in the reduction in their communication time and energy requirement. Less communication time and energy requirement translate to higher speed and better battery efficiency, respectively. So, this is one of the major differences in the Snapdragon 625 and 435 processors.
Snapdragon 625 has Adreno 506 GPU whereas Snapdragon 435 has Adreno 505 GPU. Better GPUs translate to better gaming performance at a better frame rate on higher graphics settings at a better display resolution. As per Qualcomm, Adreno 506 GPU has 25% better performance than Adreno 505 GPU. Thus, if you play a lot of games, you should opt for a smartphone with Snapdragon 625.
Snapdragon 625 has LPDDR3 RAM with 933 MHz speed whereas Snapdragon 435 has LPDDR3 RAM with 800. This difference in RAM speed translates to approximately 10-15% better system performance in case of Snapdragon 625.
